Apple of her eye
As Sarah got ready for the day, she thought to herself as she brushed her hair "the games up,I need to tell him how I feel!" At this time she rushed to her closet and grabbed a big box wrapped up with Looney Tunes characters on the paper with their sayings of "Ttthats all folks!" and Elmer Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny. She took a deep breath and blew over the top of the box and the dust flew into thin air. In the box were pictures, little notes and a love that she had shared with her best friend in elementary school.
"What the dickens are you doing Sarah?!" her mother bellowed from down the stairs. "Its time for school, now hurry up before you miss the bus!!!"At this moment she rolled her eyes mimicking her mother with her lips silently. "Stop rolling your eyes at me young lady!!!" At this she was startled as she was breathing her last breath. Clutching the big box to herself, she staggered down the stairs and made each one count as long as she could.
Bus door opens and a roar of sound comes to greet her, talks of boyfriends, rumors and kids acting up. She thought "for goodness sake, its as if they want the bus driver to drive faster to take us to school to get rid of us." She had no where to sit except next to Hanz a foreign exchange student who bore the stench of brautwurst,B.O and a hint of Old Spice. It smells to high heaven from its potentate fumes, everyone looks at Sarah and chuckles to themselves. "Thank god I wasn't the last on the bus!" They all thought amongst themselves and Sarah could feel their eyes burning a hole into her. Stepping out of the suffocating doors of the bus, the smell of freshly cut green grass hit her like a green-eyed monster, ready to attack her senses.
Upon arriving to Mrs.Stensons Algebra class, she saw him, Brian Gordon, the one she had been in love with since he pushed her in the gravel in elementary school. The little boy with blue eyes, black hair and had a golden smile. Now a man of steel, playing for the foot ball team, he has became a different person under these circumstances. He used to say "Hi Sarah!" with hugs and affectionate smiles, but now he hardly ever looks at her and never talks to her.
Needless to say she was irritated with their relationship, now on the brink of passing out with fear, she approached Brian. "Hi Brian!" "....Hi Sarah..." "Do you remember the time when Harry Lausinger's shoe lace came untied and he fell face first in poop?" "uh..yeah" "That was sooo funny!" "Uhuh." "Brian?" Asked Sarah "Yes?" "I feel like were not best friends anymore, what happened between us?" "Look Sarah its not that you are a bad person, I mean you like English and band." "And?" "And I am on the football team, I love to party and I really think band geeks are that geeks. Plus it would be bad for my image to be caught dead around you outside of school." "Well that shouldn't change anything! Have you not heard of having a variety? Like variety packs! Think of your friends as those variety packs of chips! All of us different flavors but still delicious!" said Sarah. "Right...you are weird" Brian said as he turned away.
Sarah threw the big box at Brian and said "In my heart of hearts I've been waiting to tell you how much I loved you and how much I been wanting to tell you, only to find out you are the biggest asshole I ever met!" She sharply turned away, walking distinctly but with no real direction, just anywhere but near him! Sitting behind the auditorium curtain as she had for most of her life, she thinks to herself "to be all and the end-all." "All I was to him was an eyesore." she softly says to herself. Then it hit her like a foregone conclusion, she has to show him what kind of man he really is.
Later that night she constructed a plan in which would only be thought of in a play by William Shakespeare. And as she lay her head down to rest that night, she smiled and slept the most peaceful slumber she has ever experienced in her life. The light and heavy sounds of breathing, each one sounds like a deceitful whisper shared amongst friends.
Through school Sarah was happier than she had been in years, saying hi to strangers and giving her focus of her eyes on her teachers. As she stepped into the hall she saw Brian amongst his friends and she winked and said "Hello Brian, hows it going?" Brian made a puzzled and shook his head and continued his conversation about the big game.
It was Saturday the night of the big party at Brittany Sanders house, the lead cheer leader of the highschool football team. Everyone who knew about this party was invited because only a select few held this information. Sarah happened to be really good friends with the fat JV cheer leader Candace Hall. Sarah approached the door with another box, though not quite as big as the first and the contents unknown. This time it was wrapped with a crimson blood wrapping paper and had a tag on it. "I'm so sorry Brian! I love you!" it read.
As she took a step inside the loud blaring music that she heard from the front yard exploded with intensity. People were dancing, drinking and partying it up after their big win against The Comets. Brian was doing a few shots with his buddies and a few cheer leaders at the bar in the back right corner of the basement. Sarah walked fluidly up to Brian and whispered in his ear "Lets go up to the guest bedroom." Brian in his drunken stooper decided to go with her , he did not know the murder most foul was to occur. Upon entering the guest room, Brian says to Sarah "I know you're in love with me and you want a piece of me to show to your little friends how you scored, and I'm drunk enough to do that!" Sarah said to Brian "Yes a little piece of you is a way to describe why I am here." Brian willing and readily takes his shirt off with a big grin. Sarah looks at him with menacing laugh and presents her little gift to him. "I have a present for you." "Its really important you open it!" Brian playing along thinking it was some sort of game which would result in some fun, although he thought it was odd.
In on fell swoop Brian opens the present and glaces at its empty contents, "I don't understand or get you." A fortunes fool was that of Brian Gordon's fate that night, because he didn't know what cruel joke was about to be played. Like a tower of strength, Sarah pulls out glistening silver blade of a 7-Inch Stainless-Steel Santoku Knife. The knife collects the reflection of the crimson wrapping paper on the floor as if its to tells its future endeavor. Striking into Brian's chest full of force, power and love she stabs deep. Blood thick as mousse and red as a plum spilled out into the the empty box, the stream of blood seemlessly never ending. Her laid her beloved Brian dead as door nail and when the final drip had dropped, she picked the box up and closed the lid.
For her remembrance of things past never left her heart, the days when they were just children playing mixed in with the foul remarks upon her character. She would never forget, how could she forget dear Brian Gordon. The little boy with blue eyes, black hair and a golden smile.
